Aluminium Repair
PRO-SPOT WELDER
The use of aluminum in the manufacturing of cars and trucks has created a new set of challenges within the auto body repair industry. Aluminum is strong, lightweight but brittle. During a collision it tends to tear as opposed to steel which will bend. Steel and aluminum cannot be used together because the chemically react with each other causing galvanic corrosion. This reaction looks like patches of rust blistering underneath the paint.
In order to avoid this contamination Colonial Auto Body has a dedicated aluminum repair station with a complete array of aluminum-use-only tools and equipment. The PRO-SPOT WELDER repairs tears in body panels and has a pinch weld attachment to reproduce the factory-type weld on replacement panels.
All of our technicians have been factory trained and have been I-CAR certified for aluminum repair and welding.
We use environmentally-friendly PPG WATERBORNE paint products.
